We all know that adolescents encounter many environmental factors that affect their ability to think responsibly, do well at home and school, engage in risk-taking behaviors, become isolated, cause physical illnesses, etc. If your son or your loved one’s teenager is facing any of these challenges, know that I can help. It is important for teens to learn about the consequences of poor choices and how such consequences affect their life goals, their loved ones (e.g., supporting parents), and the community in general. I have created a safe space for him to develop social skills which are essential for his development. In this space, he will learn about teen values that will help him to make choices and decisions that create positive results in his life and the people around him. Good choices and decisions will increase his zeal to perform well at school, work, create relationships and how to spend valuable free time, etc.
In this safe space, together we figure out ways to help them improve their lives because we know that a better and healthy teenage life leads to better and balanced adult life. In my Runyankore-Rukiga language, we say, “Akati kinikwa kakiri kabisi.” In the English literal interpretation – you can easily bend a pliable stem when it still has some degree of flexibility. Can you give your teenager a chance to learn about his value system?
